Thursday Morning ReDirect

Hey fellas – it has come time to revamp and re-purpose our morning gathering at McDs. Looking back 5 years when McIlrath and Gebhardt began this little exercise in the wee hours, I find it amazing that it’s still humming along and so many great men have been involved.

I’m writing to whom I believe to be the current core of this group. Numbers have been dwindling and occasionally, a soldier has been left alone at breakfast. How can we redirect and ensure this doesn’t happen? What does that look like (to quote McDave)?

I’d like you to read through my ideas and come on Thursday with your own. Here’s my vision:

The purpose:

  • Remain unscripted but with a purpose on our minds, speech and hearts.
  • Finish the play on recoil (for those that missed the mens retreat, we can explain.)
  • Start at home.
  • We can’t decide for our wives to see our point of view but we can decide to see their view.
  • Accept that we’re the stronger vessel – meaning we’re built to handle most of the load.

The execution:

  • Learn to say ‘no’ so you’re not over committed elsewhere.
  • Saturate yourself in scripture.
  • Correct personal problems.
  • Take notes on how to love your wife based on her feedback.
  • 752.

The check-up (Thursday mornings):

  • Let’s give each other a chance to succeed by sharing one example of our trials from working through the execution.
  • Come prepared to talk about that one thing.
  • Pray for our lost friends aloud – write them down on paper, pray and retro each week as God works through us.
  • Bring a friend – lost, saved or on their way.

Who’s going to be there to kick us off? I commit to you that I will be there.

Forward this to any dude you like …

All the best, jerry
